📓
Google NotebookLM

Platform Availability

✅ Web-based (All platforms - Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS)

Optimal Usage Flow

NotebookLM has query length limitations, so we use a different approach:

  1. In NotebookLM, click "Add new source""Text"
  2. Enter your topic title in the text field
  3. Press Cmd+Shift+K (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows)
  4. Context from your awRAG library is injected into the source input field
  5. Click "Add to sources"

Why This Works Better

  • Bypasses query length limits - Context added as source, not query
  • Persistent library - Build your NotebookLM library with awRAG content
  • Cleaner UX - Sources are organized and reusable across queries
  • Multiple sessions - Sources persist across NotebookLM sessions

💡 Pro Tip: Create separate NotebookLM sources for different topics from your awRAG library. This gives you an organized, topic-based knowledge library that works across all NotebookLM conversations.

Troubleshooting

🔐 Browser Permissions

The extension requires permissions to access and modify content on AI platform websites.

Solution: When installing, click "Allow" when Chrome requests permissions. You can review permissions in Chrome → Extensions → awRAG → Details.

📋 Clipboard Permission (Perplexity)

Perplexity uses a clipboard-based approach due to its Lexical editor architecture.

Solution: Grant clipboard permissions when prompted. After pressing the shortcut, paste the context manually with Cmd+V (Mac) or Ctrl+V (Windows).

⌨️ Keyboard Shortcut Conflicts

The default shortcut might conflict with other extensions or system shortcuts.

Solution: Go to Chrome → Extensions → Keyboard shortcuts and customize the awRAG shortcut to avoid conflicts.

🔑 API Key Issues

Extension not working or showing authentication errors.

Solution: Verify your API key in the extension settings. Get a fresh key from the awRAG Dashboard if needed.

🔄 Context Not Appearing

Context injection doesn't work on specific AI platforms.

Solution: Ensure you're on the correct page (chat interface), refresh the page, and check if the extension is enabled for that domain in Chrome settings.

💡 Pro Tip

For the best experience, keep your awRAG knowledge library organized with clear project names. The extension will search across all your projects, so well-structured content leads to better AI responses!
